OFC Conference (Optical Fiber Communication Conference), which will be held in March 2022 in San Diego, USA, is the top international conference in the field of optical communication with the largest scale and influence in the world. Our PhD students, Ming Jin and Yuansheng Tao, have been nominated for the Mr. Dingyi Li Memorial Scholarship organized by the General Assembly (10 students from all over the world).

Dr. Dingyi Li (7/7/1931-12/27/2012) is a renowned Chinese-American scientist in the field of photonics. His innovative work at AT&T Bell Labs pioneered the research and application of lightwave communications, which has had a profound impact on information technology for the past four decades, and he is known as the "Father of Fiber Optic Communications Wavelength Division Multiplexing". The scholarship was established at the end of 2019 and is awarded annually in honor of Dr. Dingyi Li's outstanding contributions to the field of photonics, as well as his selfless mentorship of young scientists and outstanding service to the photonics industry.
