On June 3, the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation officially announced the list of candidates selected for funding under the 2025 Postdoctoral Innovative Talent Support Program. After undergoing application recommendations, qualification reviews, and expert evaluations, 436 candidates were chosen. Postdoctoral researcher Zhang Xuguang from the Center has been successfully selected.
The Postdoctoral Innovative Talent Support Program is a newly established initiative by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the National Postdoctoral Management Committee to support outstanding young academic talents. It aims to accelerate the cultivation of exceptional young scientists capable of advancing global scientific frontiers, representing another critical measure in China’s efforts to foster high-level innovative young talent.
Starting in 2023, the National Funding Program for Postdoctoral Researchers transitioned from a quota-allocation system to a tiered funding model. The program is now divided into three tiers: National Funded Plan A, B, and C. Tier A corresponds specifically to the Postdoctoral Innovative Talent Support Program (also known as the "Boxin Program").
The Boxin Program focuses on key national research bases such as national laboratories, targeting major strategic priorities, cutting-edge high-tech fields, and fundamental scientific frontiers. It selects outstanding recent doctoral graduates to conduct postdoctoral research at domestic postdoctoral stations. Each recipient is granted an annual living stipend of ¥280,000 for two years, along with a one-time research grant of ¥80,000 from the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation.
