OFC Conference (Optical Fiber Communication Conference) to be held in March 2023 in San Diego, USA, is the world's largest and most influential top international conference in the field of optical communications. Han Changhao, a PhD student of WHITR-AP, has been nominated for the "Father of Wavelength Division Multiplexing for Optical Fiber Communications" Mr. Dingyi Li Memorial Scholarship (10 worldwide) organized by the General Assembly of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Dr. Dingyi Li (7/7/1931-12/27/2012) is a renowned Chinese-American scientist in the field of photonics. His innovative work at AT&T Bell Labs pioneered the research and application of lightwave communications and has had a profound impact on information technology for the past four decades. He is known as the "Father of Fiber Optic Communication Wavelength Division Multiplexing". The Dingyi Li Memorial Scholarship Award was established at the end of 2019 and is awarded annually in honor of Dr. Tingye Li's outstanding contributions to the field of photonics, as well as his selfless mentorship of young scientists and outstanding service to the photonics industry.
