Congratulations to the center for one achievement selected as one of the top ten social influence events in the field of optics in China in 2022

Recently, the results of the 2022 China Optics Top 10 Social Influence Events (Light10) were announced, and the Center's "New Silicon-based Optoelectronics On-chip Integration System" was selected.

2022 China's Top 10 Social Influence Events in Optics (Light10) is an annual list launched by Light: Science & Applications (https://www.nature.com/lsa/), the leading journal of China's Action Plan for Excellence in Science and Technology Journals (APEJ), in collaboration with ScienceNet (https://www.sciencenet.cn/), the flagship science communication brand of China Science News. "Light10" has been held for four consecutive years since 2019.The 2022 selection, with more than 100,000 people participating in less than three days, has attracted widespread attention.

New silicon-based optoelectronics on-chip integration system introduced

The team of the Center and John E. Bowers, professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara, reported a new type of silicon-based optoelectronics on-chip integrated system driven by integrated microcavity optical combs for the first time in the world, and the research team spent three years collaborating on the research and finally overcame this worldwide problem. This work is a perfect combination of integrated optical comb and silicon light, which is the focus of attention of the world's academia and industry, and it has opened the last kilometer of the optical frequency comb from the laboratory to the industrialization, so that we can really make this technology to large-scale applications. At the same time, it also solves the world-wide problem of multiple parallel light sources for silicon light, so that silicon light has its own brain. The related results were published in Nature.
